Snow in January

I meant to post on Tuesday, but didn’t get the chance, so here I am!  Sorry I’ve been absent for a while.

So, on Monday we spend almost all day outside because it felt like spring!  The boys were wearing shorts and I was tempted to wear a dress!  It was so warm and nice.  Here’s a little proof of the warm weather.

Then on Tuesday we all woke up to find snow covered everything!

In Georgia everyone is use to snow in January, February, March, or maybe even April!  Not much though.  We don’t usually have white Christmases.  The snow came down heavy all day on Tuesday and it was no where near spring weather anymore.  We were all very excited!

A lot of my family got stuck on the way home from work, etc, but everyone got home eventually except one of my sisters, Susanna, ended up making it to my sister, Sarah’s, house (thank goodness!).  She’s home today though.

We definitely didn’t expect to get 2 or more inches of snow, but we did!  It was beautiful the following day too.  Yesterday we played outside almost all day taking breaks here and there to thaw out! 🙂

Here’s Wednesday morning all duded up to play in the snow.

Cael and I went sledding on my dad’s wooden sled that he’s has since he was a kid, and it was so fun!  We gained a lot for speed, believe it or not!

John, Skyar, and Cael tried to make a snowman, but the snow was too fluffy and it didn’t cooperate.  A funny note; right after my camera clicked and I took this picture, they all fell over in a pile onto the snow!  Ha ha! 🙂

I had fun drawing pictures in the snow on top of the car hoods.  They melted away today though.  *sniff sniff*

Cael is the KING of photo-bombing!  I have hundreds of pictures where Cael just so happens to appear making the silliest or strangest face ever!  It’s so funny!

Caught on camera…Sylvie hitting Eli with a snowball. 🙂

Here we are sledding!  It was so fun!

The snow kept flying up my back though and that was cold.  You know, that shiver down the spine!

Yay…we look so attractive!  I don’t believe in beauty while the weather conditions are, shall we say, bad.  I’d rather be comfortable and warm then pleasing to the eye.  lol! 🙂

(Skylar insisted on taking a picture of us!)

He’s so cute!

Esme and I wore our scarves over our faces like so and we looked pretty shady.  I didn’t get a picture of her with her “bandit” outfit on though.

The cats just rolled in the snow!  Feels good I bet when you have a nice fluffy coat!

Someone put horns on my heart. 😦

So that’s our house all covered in snow!

Be sure to check out Bessie’s blog to see Evvie in the snow!  She’s so cute!

I went in the woods about a week ago and took some pictures after it had rained really hard (which I am going to post sometime soon) and below I have a comparison picture of the weather then and the snow on Tuesday!

Just thought I’d share that.

Well, again I apologize for not being around in a few weeks!  Sometimes I forget about posting!  I have really enjoyed the weather lately; before and with the snow, and I hope if you got any snow that you’ve enjoyed it, although it is not fun when you have work or need to go somewhere.

Stay safe and warm and I will be posting soon!  Get ready for cars, sunshine, and mostly random things from Jennafifi! 🙂

God bless,

Jay Silver’s Cafe

Today at lunch time my sister, Sylvie, and I put together a walk-in restaurant lunch for our siblings!  Our little cafe was called Jay Silver’s (a mash-up between both of our names, kind of). 🙂

We served turkey sandwiches, grilled cheese sandwiches, chicken soup, biscuits, fresh squeezed lemonade, and cookies that were served right out of the oven!

It was a lot of fun!  We use to do this quite often, Susanna, Skylar and I.  Today Sylvie was the waitress and sandwich maker and I was the “head chef”. 🙂

I used the Toll House/Nestle cookie recipe which is on the back of the chocolate chip bag, but I used our good wheat and sugar and I also put chocolate chips AND white chocolate chips.  They tasted so good!

Sylvie, Skylar, Esme and I went to the park today.  Skylar and I brought our roller blades and the girls brought their bikes.  It was very nice to get outside especially on such a nice day like today!  It wasn’t too cold, but cold enough to bring scarves and hats and jackets!

The past three days Sylvie has had her hair curled.  The first day she curled it with a flat iron, the second day with sponge curlers, and the third day with socks!  Yes…she tied socks in her hair, clean ones that it.

Here’s her hair with the flat iron.  Sarah came over and practiced hair stuff on all of our hair, except mine since, as some of you know I don’t have much right now!

(Yay!  Awkward picture!  I’m actually trying to grow it out a bit longer.  Right now it’s longer then it is in that picture, but not much.)

Esme’s hair, which is already naturally curly, looked beautiful!

Here’s Sylvie’s hair with sponge curlers (sorry for the bad picture quality!)

And here it is after being wrapped up in socks! 😀

I personally like how this worked out the best.  It was SO simple and worked really well, especially if your hair holds a curl.  It probably turned out so good because her hair was curled the two days before!  I had fun wrapping her hair in socks too (and I made that hair bow which I shared in a post from March, 2013).

I also played around with heated curlers on Skylar’s hair and it looked beautiful!  I’ve just turned into quite the stylist! 🙂  Probably because I’m missing having longer hair and can’t do curls and braids, etc, on my own hair *sigh*.

So, all in all, today was a very good day.  I didn’t have high hopes for today just because I felt bogged down and tired and all that, but it was really fun to “own” a restaurant for a while then go to the park and then come home to cookies and a nice cup of tea; I love tea! 🙂

I hope you all are having a great January so far seeing that its already one week into the month!  I’ve got to get cracking on some things!  Well, God bless the rest of this week and stay warm and safe!  Write soon…

My Project Revealed

Well, this isn’t really that exciting but I thought it would be fun to share.

I made a calendar! 🙂

Yes.  I decided to save a few extra dollars and make myself a calendar for 2014!

I drew one calendar page then copied all the others and put the date on, etc.

I wrote all the dates by hand…it took a while but no longer then 5-10 minutes!

I decided to put a bible verse for each month.  That’s always very encouraging to me to have scriptures up in my room.  The wall by my bed has a bunch of bible verses on it and some artwork from my friends and family.

Here are a few of the months pages almost finished!

I used my scrap paper and origami paper to cut out pictures of things that inspire me or things that reminded me of the months or seasons.

The pages are all connected by these little chains!  They works very well.

It took about two and a half days to complete.  I’m still finishing it up!  It was a lot of fun to sit down and get my creative juices flowing again!  I haven’t done something crafty or creative in a while!

Oh!  I was going through a box of stuff and found TONS of origami hearts!

Also this little fairy table…

We went to a white elephant Christmas party a few weeks ago and I ended up taking home a box of records!

I loved this album cover!

Fairy tales and stories.

Beautiful Bambi album art!  Sadly I don’t think the record is in this one. 😦

Barbra Streisand!

Those are just a few of the ones in the box.  I was told though that a lot of them were unplayable; really beat up or old.  So that stinks, but I’m going to try them all out anyway!

I had nachos today for lunch!  Just thought I’d share that! 🙂

Well, the snow didn’t stick, but it’s still freezing outside!  I’m going to go out and spend some time in the sunshine (even though it’s so cold)!  I hope this weekend is a wonderful and warm one for you all!  I’ll be posting again soon!

Welcome New Beginnings!

First post of 2014…..

Happy New Year!

Happy 2014!

Although it’s crazy to me that 2013 is over, I will be honest and say that I am super excited to have a “fresh start” even though nothing has changed yet and nothing is different in my life at the moment; I’m still excited. 🙂

Just wanted to write a quick little note welcoming the new year!  And also…it’s SNOWING at our house!!!  Not heavily yet, but its freezing (27 degrees) and flurrying!  We here at the Barger house are quite thrilled.

My amazing brother is soon going to take a look at my computer and try to fix it for so I can use pictures and my data from my own personal computer, so I cannot wait to be fully back in business on Jennafifi this year! 😀  I have something to share that I am making for this year and I will share what it is probably tomorrow if I remember to load the pictures onto someones computer.  Anyway…

God bless and much love!  I hope this year is truly a marvelous one for us all and I pray that God bestows upon you peace and love and joy (Numbers 6:26).  I’ll be writing soon! 🙂
