Thanksgiving

thanksgiving-2-2016

Thank you, Lord for this day,

for everything that hasn’t gone my way.

Thank you for my family,

the ones who truly love me,

thank you for the sounds we hear

that bring such joy to our ear.

Thank you for the sun and the moon

and the cold winter weather that will be here soon.

Thank you for holidays filled with joy

for the meaning of Christmas, which is not about toys.

Thank you for Jesus who came to save,

and was born years ago on a Christmas day.

Thank you for everything you have done,

thank you again for sending your Son.

I love you, Father, and this I pray,

that we may love and thank you every single day.

Happy Thanksgiving!  I hope it was a wonderful day for you and your loved ones.  Have a blessed and safe weekend and Merry Christmas time!!  It’s already here!

Much love,

October Farewells

October, why are you leaving so soon?  You only just arrived!  *sigh*

<><><>

It’s the end of October; one day left!  Halloween.

Costumes, candy, spooky and scary

Pumpkins that are glowing and nobody knowing

When the howling wolf will stop it’s howling

As the Harvest Moon fades from the sky

Haunted houses, forests and trees

Someones scream vanishing with the breeze

The haunted eve draws to an end

Remember deary, don’t trust even your friend

Random poem!  Just wrote it while I was sitting here wishing to be out in the sunshine!  It’s been raining and rain in October is not fun.  Oh well.

So my younger sister and I are making fairy wings for Halloween.  Yes, we are going to be fairies.  We’re going almost all out.  The wing making process has been slow and HOPEFULLY we’ll get them finished by tomorrow!  We’ve never really done much for Halloween.  It’s a holiday our family celebrates with candy, pumpkin carving, fun and games and dress up and usually we stay home!  I remember when I was younger we would go to a church on Halloween and play games, but I enjoy the past few years we’ve stayed home and hung out.

November, although I hate to be welcoming you this soon, welcome.  I wonder what you have in store for us.  I pray for joy, peace, God’s guidance in life and for time to be spent wisely.  Amen! 🙂

I am slowly in the process of publishing the rest of my pixie journey and some other things as well.  Also stay tuned to Jennafifi Photography because I will be posting some more work there.  Also I want to start some tutorial posts like crafts that I’ve achieved and cooking too!  We’ll see…I’ve been kind of lazy with my blogging.

Have a lovely and safe weekend.  Don’t eat too much candy!

Wednesday Wishes…

(Photography by Jennafifi)

Sometimes I wish I didn’t think so much…

Sometimes I wish I’d think more before I speak…

Sometimes I wish I was traveling the world; or at least the US…

Sometimes I wish I could just be home for a whole week…

Sometimes I wish for the rain to never leave…

Sometimes I wish for the sun to always stay…

Sometimes I wish I knew what to eat…

Sometimes I wish I never had to eat again…

Sometimes I wish God would blatantly show me the way…

Sometimes I wish ignorance never faded…

<><><>
I use to wish for everything, and everything was for me.  All of my wishes were self-centered or wished in times of despair.  I turned my wishes into prayers and the selfishness started to fade, and instead of praying in times of trouble only, I’ve started praying in times of utter joy and happiness with thanksgiving.  There are plenty of times when I pray out of desperation, and lots of times I pray for selfish things, but I have learned that God is good, so good, and that I never have to worry as long as I go to Him for everything.

Today I learned and realized some important, eye opening, things: When you surrender your life to Him, Christ, everything else will come…surrendering your life doesn’t mean God will send you to Africa…He will make your ministry from where you are in life and by what you love doing, and He will give you the desires of your heart; and will, for the better, change those desires…and, when it comes to finding the right guy/girl, when you live for Christ and do the things you love, as you grow and mature and are unknowingly being prepared, He will lead your significant other into your life at the perfect time…you never have to worry.

“fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.  Isaiah 41:10 (ESV)

Raindrops come fall down on my head

Show me how to let go

As you fall I see my burdens heavy

And they make me tremble

As thunder roars and lightening flashes

There is a peaceful silence all around

That silence is the Lord thy God

As raindrops fall to the the ground…

Have a wonderful evening and a blessed rest of the week!  Much love.

Poems

I am here not to share my poetry, but the poetry of some of the best, or my favorite, poets!  Actually, I am only sharing two poems and one of them is by my personal favorite poet and writer Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, the other is by John Greenleaf Whittier.  Without further ado, here are some poems!

The Moral Warfare

by J.G. Whittier

When Freedom, on her natal day,

Within her war-rocked cradle lay,

An iron race around her stood,

Baptized her infant brow in blood,

And, through the storm which round her swept,

Their constant ward and watching kept.

Then, where our quiet herds repose,

The roar of baleful battle rose,

And brethren of a common tongue,

To mortal strife as tigers sprung,

And every gift on Freedom’s shrine

Was man for beast, and blood for wine!

Our fathers to their graves have gone;

Their strife is past–their triumph won;

But sterner trials wait the race

Which rises in their honored place–

A moral warfare with the crime

And folly of an evil time.

So let it be.  In God’s own might

We gird us for the coming fight,

And, strong in Him whose cause is ours

In conflict with unholy powers,

We grasp the weapons He has given,–

The Light, and Truth, and Love of Heaven!

I’m not very good yet at explaining or understanding exactly what certain poems mean, but reading poetry is so much fun, and this particular poem was written so well and beautifully and I really liked it.  My sister got me an old Whittier’s Poems book for Christmas last year and I’ve been reading it; it’s good!

The Children’s Hour

by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Between the dark and the daylight,

When the night is beginning to lower,

Comes a pause in the day’s occupations,

That is known as the children’s hour.

I hear in the chamber above me

The patter of little feet,

The sound of a door that is opened,

And voices soft and sweet.

From my study I see in the lamplight,

Descending the broad hall stair,

Grave Alice, and laughing Allegra,

And Edith with golden hair.

A whisper, and then a silence:

Yet I know by their merry eyes

They are plotting and planning together

to take me by surprise.

A sudden rush from the stairway,

A sudden raid from the hall!

By three doors left unguarded

They enter my castle wall!

They climb up into my turret

O’re the arms and back of my chair;

If I try to escape, they surround me;

They seem to be everywhere.

They almost devour me with kisses,

Their arms about me entwine,

Till I think of Bishop Bingen

In his Mouse-Tower on the Rhine!

Do you think, O blue-eyed banditti,

Because you have scaled the wall,

Such an old mustache as I am

Is not a match for you all!

I have you fast in my fortress,

And will not let you depart,

But put you down into the dugeon

In the round-tower of my heart.

And there will I keep you forever,

Yes, forever and a day.

Till the walls shall crumble to ruin,

And moulder in dust away!

I also recommend looking up The Day is Done by H.W. Longfellow and any others by him!  He is one of my favorites and I enjoy his poetry so much.  (I’m going to share one more!  I lied!)

Concord Hymn

by Ralph Waldo Emerson

By the rude bridge that arched the flood,

Their flag to April’s breeze unfurled,

Here once the embattled farmers stood,

And fired the shot heard round the world.

The foe long since in silence slept;

Alike the conqueror silent sleeps;

And Time in ruined bridge has swept

Down then dark stream that seaward creeps.

On this green bank, by this soft stream,

We set today a votive stone;

That memory may their deed redeem,

When, like our sires, our sons are gone.

Spirit, that made those heroes dare

To die, and leave their children free,

Bid Time and Nature gently spare

The shaft we raise to then and thee.

That one I just really enjoyed reading for some reason.  It’s written very well of course; it’s Ralph Waldo Emerson!  Usually after reading poems that I don’t really understand I will look them up and read what they were about or what other peoples analysis of them are.  Some poems don’t really have certain meanings, so you just have to kind of fill in the blanks that you don’t understand.

I enjoy, obviously, the older poets that aren’t living anymore; their work is just so good and I wish I could write like them!  I have been completely uninspired lately to do anything!  Even when it comes to my blog!  Don’t take it personally, Blog, but I don’t have any inspiration or ideas for posts or ideas for pictures to post or anything!  I wish there was something burning within me that was creative and inspiring to others as well as myself, but right now I am pretty much having everything block!  Writers block, artists block, etc etc etc…

Anyway.  I hope you enjoyed those poems, and if you didn’t understand them, like myself when I first read them, I hope you at least enjoyed reading them and maybe are “inspired” to look up what they mean. 🙂

Thanksgiving is over and Christmas is JUST around the corner, or so it seems.  I’m not really ready for this year to be over to be honest, but it really doesn’t want to stick around!  I cannot believe it’s December, tomorrow!!!  Holy cow!

Well I best be off to do something with my idle, un-inspired mind, so so long for now!  (I plan to share a few beach pictures which I totally forgot about AND some pictures from the car show I went to which I also forgot to share!)

Much Love,

Jenny~
