Thankful #8: A Good Read

IMG_1518 - Copy

So, this picture was taken four (4) years ago for a post I was composing about books.  I came across it sorting through all my pictures and thought I’d use it for today. 🙂

November 8th, 2017…

I am so thankful for BOOKS!  As silly as that sounds, they are something to be grateful for.  All the nights my mother read bedtime stories and I sat on my bed imagining the whole thing; it felt so real.  I’m thankful for the stories that are true and made up, for knowledge and wisdom you can gain, for facts, fantasy, characters; a land you can get lost in.  I am so thankful for books and how they smell (yes, seriously!), and I just love books! ❤

Lord, Thank you for the wisdom and knowledge we can learn and retain from ready books!  Thank you for all the lessons and endless wisdom and truth found in the bible!  Books are so wonderful whether they are fairy stories or real stories and I am so thankful, Father, for the ability to read and comprehend and understand the words written within the pages of a book.  The capacity you have created for our brains is so incredible and amazing, Father!!  To think we were made in your image and have the ability to know you, God…I am so completely humbled by this.  That you would even care to know me makes me want to cry tears of joy!  Thank you!  May we never belittle how special and fun and important our ability to read and comprehend is!  Amen.

Thankful #3: Truth

November 3rd, 2017…

I am so thankful for the truth!  I am so thankful for the freedom there is found in the truth!  There is no lie great enough that trumps the light of the truth, and light will be shed on the truth, no matter what.  “Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”.”-John 8:31-32

Dear God, thank you for your truth!  For your word which is the truth, whole truth, and nothing but the truth!  You are so faithful in your word though truly you are serious about it as well.  Nothing is sugar-coated, and I am SO thankful for that!  No matter how we try to go about sugar-coating things; Lord may we be convicted of that and have the confidence and boldness to share your word exactly how it is written.  Thank you for the capacity of our feeble human minds!  The very thought that you have equipped us to be able to grasp even a little bit of your word is so amazing and I am so grateful to you for trusting me to read, learn, know, love, and share your precious word.  You are incredible and I love you!  I love you so much!  Thank you for your great, unfailing, love for us.  It is in your precious name I pray, Amen.

Prayer for America

Dear God, I pray for my country. Lord, I ask for the eyes of the American citizens to be opened, for the laws, values, and freedoms put in place by our founding fathers to be remembered and respected, for us to stand together as brothers and sisters to protect this amazing nation from those trying to harm it, and to share your love and your light to those who have not yet experienced it. Father, open our hearts, individually, to the issues in this world and show us how we can make a positive difference. Where there is loss, let us bring your comfort to someone, where there is abuse, let us bring hope of your healing hands! Where there is hate, may we give the example of ultimate, limitless, unfailing, love. Where there is loss, may the great gain of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior fill any emptiness. May our lives be beams of your grace, mercy, forgiveness and love to all those in our paths, especially right now when there is so much tension, negativity, hate, disrespect, abuse, pain, loss, hurt, sadness, and fear in this world. We live in a fallen world and will until Jesus comes back! But God, I ask you to instill hope in all of us, that Your will be done, that your hand will be upon those who declare Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Be with those who do not know you as Savior. Father, as we, America, head to a very important election, I just ask you to allow us to focus on what’s important for the protection and survival of this country. May we do our part in selecting a leader most likely to protect this country and allow You to lead. May we, the people, stand together on the important issues…most importantly our freedoms. Freedom of religion, speech, choice, action, belief, thought, love; freedom in general! You have given us this country to live freely within, to have opportunities, to prosper and grow, and it is amazing what you’ve allowed this amazing country to do! May we, Father, be deserving of keeping this country great and keeping You a part of it; the most important part of it. People have forgotten you, God. Your people have failed to live in fear of the Lord and instead live in fear of this world just like everyone else; fear of money, man, life, death, health, wealth, pain, sorrow, hopelessness, etc. Set a fire within your people, God, may we stand up strong for Your names sake and bold for our country’s sake! We need to protect the United States of America from the evil lurking around the corner, but most of all, we need You! Be with us, Lord. I love you and pray in Jesus’ name, Amen!

This is a prayer that comes from my whole heart.  I love my country and I am very proud to have been born and raised in the United States of America.  I’m proud to be a citizen of a country that is based on freedom for all.  I do not want to see my country be beaten and torn and disrespected and ruined, nor watch my family or friends live in a country that seems to be “giving up”.  We MUST stand together to fight for this nation, one nation under God, and to protect it from all evils.  We must make America safe again; safe, great, free, and a country that honors our Lord and respects itself as well.  God bless AMERICA…land of the free, home of the brave.

Blessings and much love,

Creation Science Museum

My brothers, Joshua and Ben, and myself went to an Answers in Genesis conference, the Answers Mega Conference 2015, in Kentucky in June and it was wonderful!  It was a last minute thing for me; I wasn’t planning on going at first, but I am so glad and thankful that I was able to go.

Ken Ham and Answers in Genesis is an amazing organization.  What I enjoy most about them is how they share the truth.  The point blank truth, which is SO important!  I want to write a small post about each session we went to.  There were 4-6 different sessions each day and we were there for the whole conference which was four days, so we heard a LOT of stuff and definitely left with plenty to think about and so much to reflect upon.  For today I want to share some pictures from the beautiful Creation Science Museum in Kentucky and mainly the lovely garden they have there.  Enjoy!

Beautiful garden!  When we went last year it was raining outside and the garden wasn’t in bloom.  Look at it now though!

The AMAZING universe and the comparisons of God vs. Man’s word (God’s is right by the way, sorry).

Bad picture of a beautiful starry sky tunnel.

This part of the museum is scary, but true.  I don’t like to walk through this part.

An inside look at an interpretation of what the ark “looks” like.

Miniature ark!  It’s so cute!  I am SO excited about the life sized ark Answers in Genesis is building (we got to go to the ark site; pics soon!)!

This is the real fossil of the Allosaurus (I hope I spelled that right).  It is a family member of the Tyrannosaurus Rex.

Joshua and I (and some guy trying to be cool in the background!).

It was a great trip, and again, I’m thankful I could go.  I love the truth!  It makes so much sense and there is such an assurance in it and a peace in the truth.

Yesterday I had a wonderful talk with my sister, Skylar, who is still in Korea (The Miller’s are home for the summer.  PLEASE forgive me if I didn’t mention that on my blog!), and we talked for a long time and she mentioned Philippians 4:6-8 and then after we talked I saw, read, or heard that verse 3 more times, so I have taken that as a hint or a clue or a sign that God wants me to realize that truth of Philippians 4:6-8 and dwell on it.

“6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.  Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”  Philippians 4:6-8

Thank you for stopping by whether it was the first time or you are a revisiting visitor, I don’t know?!  Have a blessed day and enjoy the beauty around you even when there is darkness in this world and things don’t always go a okay.  Much love.

Late Night Thoughts

Some nights so many thoughts flood into my mind that I can’t sleep…thoughts, literally, about everything!  Hopes and dreams, passed events, troubles and sorrows, joys and inspirations; everything.

Life is confusing and so much time is spent not looking further then the distance of your personal bubble.  Does that make sense?  We think we know so much, or I do sometimes, but really our perspective is such a short distance and so blinded by the distractions of life and this world and everything we “have to do” and all the things we “don’t have time for” etc.

We have plenty of time.  We have nothing to fear or fret.  We have full lives even when they seem completely empty.  We have a choice in everything whether we think so or not.  In order to do something you either choose to do it or your choice is not to do it!  As long as we do and seek the things that bring joy to our hearts our lives are full.  There should be no fear at all because Jesus has saved us and the evil one has been defeated and can do nothing more but toil with our minds.  And we always have time because all time is God’s and He is infinite and eternal and everything is done in His perfect timing whether it seems that way or not.

A goal, if you will, that I have for this year and for my life really, is to just DO things!  Start meeting people and getting involved with things.  Start exercising and taking care of myself because as the Bible says my body, the body, is a temple (1 Corinthians 6:19-20) and you deserve to feel good and be healthy!  Apply for a job that may be different but is something you want to try.  Take up any opportunities whether they be great or small.  Stand up for what you believe in.  Most importantly do not fear because fear will get you no where and will keep you stuck forever if you allow it to hold you back and control your every opinion, decision and action.  Just do it!

That has been put on my heart so heavily and my friend actually found a shirt that says “Just Do It” so we both bought one and it’s very encouraging.

It’s so easy to look at all the bad things and outweigh the bad from the good especially when you are a pessimist…like me.  I’m a pessimist and an extremely negative person when I leave God out of my life and allow my thoughts and feelings to take over and OTHER peoples opinions; I strongly believe it is so important to have a mind of your own and to think for yourself.  Think for yourself, be respectful to other people about there opinions, and be confident in your own opinions.  That’s something I am definitely still working on.

Seek the goodness in every moment.  It is easy to immediately find the crappy things or moments in life when you are doubtful, depressed, fill in the blank, but it is SO worth it when you seek the good things that make you happy and bring you joy and peace.  Just take a deep breath and do it.  You never know, most likely there is a friend, a relative or even a sibling or someone who is super close to you who may be struggling with the same thing.  I say that because we don’t have to be discouraged about being “alone” because we are not!  Even if we don’t know if anyone around is is or has been going through the same things, we always have GOD who is there, He IS there, and we don’t have to worry or anything.  I wish these simple words could be more convincing and I hope they are encouraging!  I’m saying these things to encourage myself as well someone who happens across this post.  (Also to add on to not being alone…don’t be afraid to talk to people or ask for encouragement, accountability or help!  Communication is KEY!  I’m pretty sure that’s why we, humans, talk is because it is necessary and important to communicate!  Anyway…)

The truth is, God is good, He has overcome and loves us and is always there for us, and we need to realize that!  No matter what your situation is or circumstance or problem, etc etc etc, we have to remember and realize that He loves us, oh how He loves us…if you have come across my blog, hello and welcome first off, secondly if you do not know Jesus I just want to kindly encourage you that it is worth everything in life and more to know Him.  Blessings to you and may God bless and direct your life down His path and in His perfect timing.  Much love.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 “Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God?  You are not your own, for you were bought with a price.  So glorify God in your body.”
